Family Stabilization and Wellness Skills Program

Overview

As a part of the broader Systems of Care initiative in Washington state, CoLab has partnered with systems leaders and community behavioral health teams to codesign and implement a flexible, modular skills training consultation model for youth Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) teams based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based approaches. The Family Stabilization and Wellness Skills Program (Family Skills Program) aims to build and support a clinical training infrastructure that is fitted to the local needs and context of community behavioral health providers within our state. It has been designed in collaboration with our mental health workforce partners to be feasible and sustainable for their teams and the families they serve. Additionally, our team is developing an online, asynchronous, and evidence-based support resource for caregivers of high-risk youth. This resource is the product of a collaboration between our team, NAMI WA, and a group of caregivers with lived experience from across the state. We hope this co-creation process that prioritizes family voices, concerns, and needs will lead to the development of a more relevant, engaging, and effective asynchronous skills program that can be freely and widely accessed by families in Washington state.
