Kathryn (Kate) Cunningham, Psy.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor and licensed clinical psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Cunningham is the project lead and co-investigator on a statewide collaboration exploring Youth Wellness Zones as a public health initiative to create meaningful positive change in youth mental health in Washington. She is the project lead and a co-investigator on the Opportunity-Based Probation project with Pierce County Juvenile Court, which aims to align probation practices with adolescent brain science and behavioral and learning principles to improve outcomes for legally involved youth. Dr. Cunningham is also a project lead within the Evidence-Based Practice Institute, specifically focused on aligning policy with community priorities. She is committed to improving health equity and behavioral health outcomes in Washington state through her work in policy, research, and design with CoLab.

Dr. Cunningham completed a forensic postdoctoral fellowship at the Child Study and Treatment Center (CSTC) and a predoctoral internship at Travis County Juvenile Probation Department. She received her doctorate in psychology from Loyola University Maryland. Prior to graduate school, Dr. Cunningham graduated with honors from the University of Washington with a B.A. in psychology and minor in diversity studies.
