Aaron is a community health scientist, nationally certified health education specialist, and abolitionist who graduated with a Master of Public Health in epidemiology, with a focus on maternal child health from the University of Washington. Aaron was born and raised in the American Southwest, they come from an Afro-Indigenous family with a long-standing tradition of community organization, service to social justice causes, and using art as a way of uplifting and breaking down barriers. They collaborated with CoLab on the Imagine New Futures event, and helped lead the youth activation initiatives surrounding youth wellness policy.
Believing strongly in the power of community-led initiatives and public health research, Aaron leverages their diverse lived experience to inform their work, their collaborations, and support in communities. Before joining CoLab, Aaron held a variety of direct service roles ranging from emergency shelter program manager, community counselor and advocate, COVID-19 isolation and quarantine manager, youth and young adult programs manager, and research interventionist. Aaron's academic and professional pursuits center on improving life course outcomes for children and birthing populations, and bridging the gaps in health and wellness for historically underserved populations through innovative research, targeted interventions, and equity-driven initiatives.
